This month’s Shine the Light is focused on premium member Masters of Pie who have developed a new and revolutionary software platform to enable immersive collaboration across different platforms. Masters of Pie’s platform, Radical, integrates natively into existing platforms to support the seamless and secure real-time sharing of large and complex 2D and 3D data across AR, VR, desktop & mobile devices.

Founded in 2011, Master of Pie‘s aim was to bring expertise from the gaming industry to the enterprise sector.

Starting life as a services company delivering digital twin prototypes and products, using game engine technology and game design methodologies, for blue chip companies, they soon realised that bespoke models for individual enterprise customers would never scale and a more robust solution was needed. Their ambition was to create a scalable and extensible software solution which would change the way enterprise as a whole collaborates.

This led them to create Radical

The Radical SDK software would be licensed to large, established software providers who lacked the ability to easily integrate this new real time immersive support natively to their own software platforms.

Early impact was seen with the single user CAD designer enabling them to quickly switch between traditional CAD environments and fully immersive virtual environments. This provided the designers with a more intuitive way to interact and understand their data, without adding any challenges to their current workflows. The VR collaborative solution has evolved into multiple team environments, providing access to the same live data for collaborative sessions, bringing geographically dispersed teams together. This is already seeing impact in cost and time savings.

In 2017, Masters of Pie signed an OEM agreement with Siemens PLM for the Radical SDK to be integrated into the Siemens NX CAD service to deliver immersive collaboration (VR, AR). The Siemens NX VR capability has been live in the market for over 12 months securing adoption by global leaders in the aerospace, private space industry and car manufacturing sectors.

The round included investment and industry validation of the Masters of Pie approach to the enterprise market from both Williams Advanced Engineering and Bosch Ventures.

The business is now on a journey to scale and grow by expanding the adoption of the Radical SDK to other PLM vendors and port to new verticals such as AEC, Healthcare and the Energy sectors.
