The 2024 Innovate UK Immersive Tech Awards brought together some of the brightest talents in immersive technology from across the UK. The awards ceremony, held at Imagination’s London HQ, showcased the remarkable work of finalists who went through a rigorous three-stage judging process with input from 34 experts across industry, academia, and the public sector.
The event not only recognised winners in five key categories but also celebrated the innovation and creativity seen throughout the competition. The energy at the reception was incredible, with live demos giving attendees a firsthand experience of the cutting-edge projects in immersive storytelling, technical innovation, and more.
In addition to the category winners, the awards opened doors to new opportunities with prestigious internships from top industry partners such as Arup, Soluis Group, and Wales Millennium Centre, fostering the next generation of immersive tech talent. This year, the Career Breakout Award was also introduced, spotlighting emerging voices making waves in the XR space.
The awards have already garnered attention from nearly 10 more potential partners, eager to get involved for 2025, making it clear that the future of UK immersive tech is brighter than ever. With applications from 37 universities spanning all four UK nations, this event has truly been a nationwide celebration of innovation.
The Innovate UK Immersive Tech Network has since been nominated for the inaugural Tech Impact Awards in the Promoting Digital Skills category for the awards programme!
