On 19th June we hosted the first UK-FR Museum and Cultural venues VR Forum in Paris to share best practice on harnessing the power of immersive technologies in the museum and heritage sectors.
The event took place within NewImages Festival, a pioneer Festival 100% dedicated to virtual worlds, developed by Le Forum des Images and supported by Paris City Council.
This initiative was co-organised in partnership with Immerse UK and the Innovation & Culture Club (CLIC France), the main Francophone collaborative platform on heritage innovation which brings together museums, heritage sites, scientific and cultural venues sensitised to the issues of new digital technologies.
We gathered a range of the most emblematic museums and cultural venues from across the UK and France, including: Le Louvre, Le Grand Palais, The Natural History Museum, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The National Gallery, plus many more. Heads of digital innovation across these organisations came together to share their best practices around production, distribution, and location-based VR.
This is the start of much longer conversations around potential future collaborations & co-productions and the development of business models that could work to circulate location-based VR works across Europe. We’ll keep you updated in the coming months!
