After the success of the 2023 awards, Innovate UK’s Immersive Tech Network is pleased to announce that they will be returning this year with new partners and more prizes!

These awards have been designed to connect undergraduate and postgraduate students in the XR (Extended Reality) industry. The primary goal is to identify and celebrate the top XR talent emerging from academia in the UK, while also providing a crucial link between theoretical learning and real-world problem-solving through exciting internship opportunities at leading companies in immersive technology. In the inaugural awards held last year, 10 outstanding finalists showcased their projects at ARUP’s headquarters in London, and two internship grand prizes were awarded in collaboration with ARUP and Soluis.

Supported by the Advisory Board and Academic Working Group of Innovate UK Immersive Tech Network, these awards present an exceptional chance for UK students involved in crafting innovative projects, experiences, and ideas for the XR industry. Participants can submit their work for evaluation by a distinguished judging panel comprised of industry experts. The rewards include various prizes, with the highlight being paid internships offered by industry partners. For the 2024 edition, these esteemed partners include Arup, Soluis, StoryLab Anglia Ruskin University, ARCADE, and Wales Millennium Centre.

We hosted an online launch event on 26 Feb, where attendees could find out more about the awards categories, judges and prizes available. Click here to watch the recording.
